The Taber Church of Christ
is an independent, faith-based, evangelical
‘Christian’ (meaning followers of Christ)
community of believers, meeting regularly every Sundayhere in the southern Alberta town of Taber.
In our original church building since 1956, we hold true
to the sacraments of Holy Communion every Sunday;full-immersion Baptism in the Name of the Father,
Son and Holy Spirit; and being ‘born-again’ as
Jesus revealed in the Holy Bible.
We are very family oriented,following the words of Jesus
“let the children come to Me”.
As a community of
believers, we welcome visitors, guests and those seeking,for us all to grow in a stronger relationship with
our Lord and Saviour. Together, we desire to be a
Light into this world, sharing the hope,peace, love and joy we have in Jesus.
Jim Chapman came to Canada from Oregon in 1947 at the age of 23, with 7 years of preaching experience, and a calling to minister to the small struggling churches of southern Alberta. He dedicated the rest of his life to this calling. His wife Dorothy served the church alongside him for 52 years. He was the minister in Vulcan for 11 years, Lethbridge for 31 years, Wrentham for 21 years and Taber for 12 years.
As well, he started the Nanton, Taber, Hardieville and Lomand churches, and enabled other preachers in southern Alberta to survive the struggles of ministering to a small church.
Altogether he preached for 83 years.
His last sermon was in Taber March 10, 2024.
His last communion message was July 28, 2024
